Which gold is IRA-eligible?
Gold bullion at least .995 fine from a national mint or a recognized refiner, plus the American Gold Eagle, which qualifies by statute at .9167. Krugerrands and collectible, proof and graded coins don’t qualify. See IRA-eligible metals.
Is "IRA-approved" the same as IRA-eligible?
Yes, people use both terms. The IRS doesn’t approve individual products: the tax code sets minimum fineness, and your IRA custodian decides what it will hold.
