Why is the premium on silver higher than on gold?
Silver is worth far less per ounce, so the fixed costs of minting, handling and shipping are a bigger share of the price. Larger bars (10 oz, kilo and 50 oz) bring the premium per ounce down.
Should I buy silver coins or bars?
Bars give you the most silver for your money. Bullion coins such as American Eagles and Maple Leafs cost a little more per ounce but are recognized worldwide. 90% U.S. silver offers small units that are easy to trade.
